Congratulations to Dr. Jerome Epplin on being named Clinician of the Year by the American Geriatrics Society. The American Geriatrics Society is the most prominent organization in the country for the education of physicians and health care personnel in the field of Geriatrics. This award is given to a practicing physician who has made outstanding contributions to compassionate, quality health care for older persons.
Dr. Epplin is a member of the Alzheimer's Advisory Committee for the Illinois Department of Public Health. He is on the editorial board of Annals of Long Term Care and twice has helped write guidelines for the management of persistent pain in the elderly. He has published papers and textbook chapters on congestive heart failure, cardiac stress testing, elder abuse, the use of thrombolytic drugs during heart attacks, and on minimal trauma fractures. He also served on a committee which sets the standards for quality care of the elderly.
Dr. Epplin's medical practice is located at Litchfield Family Practice Center in Litchfield. He also is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, IL.
