The Friends of St. Francis Hospital is a division of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis, Inc. The Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Foundation, Inc., is a nonprofit organization chartered in the State of Illinois and is exempt from income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Therefore, contributions to the Friends of St. Francis Hospital qualify as charitable contributions to the fullest extent of current laws.

Donations can be designated in one of two ways:
Unrestricted Gifts
Gifts may be made to the Friends of St. Francis Hospital with no restrictions as to their use. Unrestricted gifts will be used where the hospital's needs are the greatest as determined by the hospital Administrator and reviewed by the Friends of St. Francis Board of Directors.
Restricted Gifts
Although unrestricted gifts provide the greatest flexibility to the hospital in carrying out the healthcare ministry, a preference may be expressed for the general type of programming to be supported by adding, "To the extent possible and practicable, this gift shall be used for the area of ------"
