Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation

Not being able to do normal daily activities is both frustrating and stressful. At St. Francis Hospital, we try to get you back to your normal lifestyle as quickly as possible, while still providing you with the tools and support you need to live a healthier life.

The following rehabilitation programs are available at St. Francis Hospital:

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehab is an important part of the healing process once you have had a heart attack, stroke or other cardiac event. Our program helps you build strength, increase endurance, learn how to cope with stress, eat healthy and return you to normal life activities. Program sessions include a variety of monitored exercises on treadmills, exercise bikes, weighted wall-pulleys and steps, as well as an education program designed to help you achieve and maintain a healthier life.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehab also helps patients return to their normal activities through exercise and education. Patients with lung disease are educated on controlled breathing techniques, panic control, relaxation techniques, energy conservation, medication use, smoking cessation, proper nutrition, home oxygen use, decreasing risk of infection, recognizing signs of infection and emotional issues.

For more information about these programs, contact our Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department at (217) 324-2191, ext. 8350.
