About Us

St. Francis Hospital is a Catholic not-for-profit health care facility. The hospital is an affiliate of Hospital Sisters Health System sponsored by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.

The Hospital Sisters established St. Francis Hospital in 1875 in Litchfield, Illinois, with the mission of meeting the needs of those living within the two-county area.

St. Francis Hospital is a fully licensed and accredited, not-for-profit health care facility. Employing nearly 240 area residents, the hospital has a full range of medical services; surgery center; cancer care center; state-of-the-art imaging for diagnostic purposes; and physical, cardiac, and pulmonary rehabilitation. In addition, St. Francis is the only hospital in the two-county area providing maternity services.

The hospital is located halfway between St. Louis, Missouri and Springfield, Illinois. The hospital serves the areas of Montgomery and Macoupin counties.
